Daffodil International University hold’s Workshop on “Social Business”
A Workshop on “Social Business” was organized on 28th March, 2012 at DIU auditorium. The workshop was organized by Social Business Cell, Faculty of Business and Economics Research Center, DIU in collaboration with Yunus Center (YC), Dhaka.
The workshop was presided over by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, DIU. Mr. M. F. M Amir Khashru, Social Business coordinator, YC thanked the DIU authority on behalf of Yunus Center. Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business, NSU delivered the keynote speech on the importance of Social Business. Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, DIU in his speech said, “it is a Social Business which can solve many social problems both locally and globally”. Later Mr. Musa Ibrahim, Mountaineer and Journalist inspired the young stars to come forward and help in solving the social issues acquainted with social business.
The program was divided into three sessions. The first session was the inaugural session where distinguished guests from home and abroad were present. The participants of the workshop were the faculty members, students, all Heads of different departments of the University. A presentation was given by the Yunus Center team, headed by Mr. M. F. M Amir Khashru, Social Business Coordinator, YC. Other presenters were Mr. Md. Nazmul Hossain, Academia Advisor, YC, Lecturer Department of Marketing, DU, Mr. Labib Tarafdar , Assistant Program Officer, YC, Mr. Golam Shazad Khan , Social Business- Communication and Outreach, YC. The last session was the brain storming session where Mr. Labib Tarafdar , Assistant Program Officer, YC, Mr. M. Golam Shazad Khan , Social Business- communication and outreach, YC, Mr. Shariful Islam , Assistant Program Officer, YC, Fiamma Degl'Innocenti , Intern, YC, Teddy Sun , Intern, YC, Mohammad Atif bin Shafi , Intern, YC were present.
Mr. Musa Ibrahim, Mountaineer and Journalist explained the different social problems of Bangladesh in order to be addressed by Social Business ideas from home and abroad. During the session significant number of questions were raised by the students regarding the Social Business and its different aspects. Later on the working files were distributed among the students. DIU was Proud to honor Professor Muhammad Yunus for his selection of being one of the Greatest Entrepreneurs of Our Time by giving a crest. The Crest was received by Mr. M F M Amir Khasru on behalf of YC.
The session was ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. Masud Ibn Rahman, the Coordinator of Social Business Campaign.
