Tourism & Hospitality Management Department of Daffodil International University (DIU) has celebrated its 6th Anniversary on 21 October 2019 with colorful events including cake cutting, discussion meeting and cultural program at Banquet Hall of the university.Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest at the cake cutting program. Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU, Professor Dr. S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business & Entrepreneurship (FBE), Mr. Mahbub Parvez, Head, Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management of Daffodil International University, Mr. Bhubon Chandra Biswas, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board, Mr. Md. Zamiul Ahmed, Member of Bangladesh Tourism Board, Mr. Zafar Ahmed, Manager (Food Safety) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Mr. Ehsanul Halim Khan, Head of Hospitality Management of Bengal Foundation, Mr. A R M Akther Hossain, Head of Brand & Communication of Bengal Boi, Ms. Mehnaz Rahman, Manager (Sales & Marketing) Platinum Hotel, Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Head of Operation of Platinum Hotel, Mr. KhorsedAlam, Managing Director of Marino Hotel spoke on the occasion as the distinguished guests at the program.
While addressing in the program Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam said that tourism career is now open globally. So that DIU is always committed to make their students as internationally competent and skilled. Terming tourism and hospitality management as a thrust sector, he emphasized on communication skills and urged the students  to learn Malay, China and Japanese language beside English and also to be equipped with modern communication technology.
Speakers stressed that tourism and hospitality management is a potential and rapid growing sector in Bangladesh. Lots of skilled people are needed in this sector to flourish it, but the number of skilled manpower is very limited as per requirement. To mitigate this huge demand of skilled manpower, national and international organizations have to come forward besides government initiatives, they added.
