Chairman of the Committee on Private Member's Bills and Resolutions and Member of the Parliament of Dhaka -10 constituency Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP leading the rally brought out on “International Day of Older Persons at Dhanmondi area jointly organized by All Bangladesh Senior Citizens Society and Daffodil International University.

To mark the International Day of Older Person-2019 All Bangladesh Senior Citizens Society and Daffodil International University jointly organized a Rally and Discussion Session today on 01 October 2019 at Daffodil International University. The rally was started from Dhanmondi-32 and ended at Sobhanbag campus of the university. Chairman of the Committee on Private Member's Bills and Resolutions and Member of the Parliament of Dhaka -10 constituency Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, MP inaugurated the rally and was present in the discussion session as the chief guest. Dr. Sharifa Begum, Former Senior Research Fellow of BIDS presented the keynote paper in the discussion session. Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University was present as the special guest while Justice Mohammad Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of All Bangladesh Senior Citizens Society presided over the program.

While addressing as the chief guest Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh said that older persons have a lot of experiences and skills. Through which we have to develop our country using their experience and skills. In the meantime he pointed out massive activities of government for older persons. He said, government started adult allowance for development of senior citizens and every year the allowance is gradually increasing. Besides this government has increased the retirement age bar from 57 to 59 and lots of initiatives have taken for senior citizen. That’s why the average life expectancy of Bangladeshi people has been reached to 72 years.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh also said that lot of government and non-government organizations have been working for older persons. We have to increase the number and activities of these type of organizations. We should have to ensure the implementation of laws about senior citizens, he added. In the meantime he thanked to Daffodil International University and Older Citizen Welfare Society for arranging this program.
