Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, President & MD of Bank Asia Ltd. talks on ‘Entrepreneurial Role of an Executive ' in the opening lecture
Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia Ltd. speaking at the 1st Academic Lecture Series on “Entrepreneurial Role of an Executive” held at Daffodil International University organized by Career Development Center (CDC).
After the successful completion of Industry Academia Lecture Series with the aim to inform and motivate the educated youths of the struggle and challenges faced on route to success by the well known Executives of the country, Daffodil International University has taken initiative to introduce Academic Lecture Series on Entrepreneurial Role of an Executive. Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia Ltd. delivered his 1st valuable lecture on “Entrepreneurial Role of an Executive” in the series on August 6, 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of the university. Career Development Center (CDC) organized the Lecture series.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University delivered the welcome address in the program. The program was also addressed by Professor Dr. Md. Masum Iqbal, Mr. Md. Nuruzzaman, CEO, Daffodil Family and Mr. Md. Abu Taher Khan, Director; Career Development Center (CDC). The function was attended by Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU, Mr. Hossain Ahmed, Executive Vice President of Bank Asia, Mr. Md. Ahsan Ul Alam, Vice President and Head of Agent Banking, Ms. Rumana Akther Tulee, First Assistant Vice President, Ms. Krisna Saha, AVP and Head of Branch, Mr. Mohammad Ataur Rahman, AVP, Mr. Md. Ashraful Hossain, First Vice President and Head of Branch, Mr. Golam Gaffar Imtiaz Choudhury were also present at the program.

While delivering lecture as the keynote speech Mr. Md. Arfan Ali said that the economic volume of country is increasing day by day. Our total GDP is now 320 billion while it was 500 million in 1971. It has been possible due to technology. Technology has changed our banking system totally. Now we are doing mobile banking, online banking, app banking, and agent banking etc through technological help. In future it will be more increase. So we have to make our banking system easier through technological innovation. He termed the students of CSE department of this university as very much talent and innovative and hoped that they will contribute a lot in banking sector through inventing new technological ideas.
Mr. Md. Arfan Ali also said that every citizen of Bangladesh will have a bank account within 10 to 15 years. And every village have a bank booth or bank branch. It will be done through technology. He urged the students to be habituated with these latest technologies and try to build career in artificial intelligence, block chain, finctec etc from now.
Mr. Md. Arfan Ali said, we have to emphasis on developing our villages if we want to sustain our economic development. In the meantime he point out example of South Koria and said that in 1986 the economy of Bangladesh and South Korea were same. Now South Koria is one of the first world countries while Bangladesh is only developing country. South Koria could make this tremendous success only through the development of their villages.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan in his presidential speech said that how an employee can also be a good entrepreneur and Mr. Arfan Ali is the example in front of us. He initiated agent banking concept for the first time in Bangladesh through Bank Asia. His agent banking made a revolution in banking sector. Now other banks are following agent banking concept.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said in his welcome speech that many universities of developed countries are including their successful entrepreneurs in their academy. But we don’t have that kind of culture in our country. Daffodil International University is trying to execute this culture.
