His Excellency, Benoit Préfontaine, High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh along with Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University is handing over the Regional Final Championship Award of Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter to the winning team members of ‘Sorbojaya’.

HEC, Montreal Canada and Daffodil International University jointly organized Regional Final of  Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter on July 30, 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University. ‘Sorbojaya’ team comprised with Mahfuz Islam ( Textile Engineering Department), Meghla Akter Mitu ( English Department)  and   Md. Ashik Iqbal (CSE Department) became Regional champion in Social Business Creation, Bangladesh chapter and moved to Canada to attend the global final.

His Excellency, Benoit Préfontaine, High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh joined the program as the Chief Guest and handed over the awars among the winning team members. Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Executive Director, Yunus Centre joined the program as the Special Guest. Presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, the function was also attended by Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director ( International Affairs), Dr. Aminul Islam, Professor of Finance, UniMAP, Dr. Mohammed Eskandari Sani, Assistant Professor, University of Birjand, Iran and Dr. Md. Motaharul Islam, Associate Professor, Bangladesh Open University. The event was organized by YSBC, Faculty of Business &Entrepreneurship, Daffodil International University and powered by Social Business Students’ Forum (SBSF).

The top 10 teams from Bangladesh presented their business plans in an elaborate presentation session. Later on, the top 3 teams pitched their business ideas in front of the Honorable High Commissioner and distinguished judges from Bangladesh, Canada, Malaysia and Iran. The Champion team received 15,000, taka along with CAD $1000 as air fare support to join the World Final at HEC Montreal, Canada.
While addressing as the chief guest High Commissioner of Canada Benoit Préfontaine stated that students of Daffodil International University are working greatly besides academics to create impacts on co-curricular events which is highly appreciable. He hoped that through organizing this program, the relationship between the two countries will increase further more in coming days.
