DIU Pharma Career Expo 2019: 10 years Celebration of Pharmacy Department began today (Saturday) on April 27, 2019 at main campus of Daffodil International University in the capital. Department of Pharmacy of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized this 2- day long DIU Pharma Career Expo 2019 from 27-28 April 2019.
Mr. S. M. Shafiuzzaman, Secretary General, Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) inaugurated the Pharma Expo as the chief guest. Dr. Mominul Haque, Managing Director, General Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was present as Special Guest in the program. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and Chairman, Daffodil Family presided over the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahabubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. S M Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro- Vice Chancellor, DIU and Dr. Sharif Mohammad Shaheen, Head, Department of Pharmacy of Daffodil International University.
2 day long DIU Pharma Career Expo includes seminar, workshop, career talk show, Exhibition and project display. A total of 22 pharmaceutical industries are participating in this Career Expo.
A series of seminar titled “Employability 360 in Pharma–Sector”, “Pharma Product Management in Bangladesh” and “Professional employability in Pharma –sector” will be held where industry leaders and Professional Experts will share their experience and provide guide line for the new comers in this sector.
While addressing as the chief guest Mr. S M Shafiuzzaman, Secretary General of BAPI said that Bangladesh has achieved a tremendous success in some particular sectors whereas pharmaceuticals sector is leading position. Almost 98% medicine we can produces and after fulfilling our demand we are exporting medicine in 160 country around the world. All of this success can possible because of our pharmacists.
Mr. S M Shafiuzzaman also said that pharmacy sector in Bangladesh is going to be a major economic sector very soon. Already this sector earn a lot of foreign currency. A huge job opportunity has been created in this field. So most of the university has been open pharmacy department. But most of them run by old course curriculum still now. We should change our course curriculum in the basis of market demand. In this regard BAPI will help for making new course curriculum. He added.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU said that pharmacy department of Daffodil International University is celebrating 10 years journey. It’s really pride for us. In this 10 years, many students got graduate degree from this department and they doing very well in pharmacy sector of home and abroad. Department of pharmacy is strongly committed to produce skilled pharmacists.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan also said that we have to enrich our research in pharmacy sector and we have to produce new products. In this regard we need change the course curriculum. Students have to be more innovative and they should learn proper use of modern technology for pharmaceuticals research.
