Ms. Bilkis Khanam, Psychologist of DIU, conducted the workshop on “Learning Disabilities and Its Management” in the Digital Classroom of the level 4 of DT of the university organized by the Department of English of DIU with the support of DSA.

 

The Department of English of DIU, with the support of DSA, organized a workshop on “Learning Disabilities and Its Management” on 19 March 2019 in the Digital Classroom of the level 4 of DT of the university. Ms. Bilkis Khanam, Psychologist of DIU, conducted the workshop as the resource person. The workshop was organized with a view to supporting teachers in dealing with students having learning disabilities like dyslexia. The workshop was organizedwith a view to achieving the following objectives: (i) to increase awareness of learning disabilities (ii) to make participants able to identify students with learning disabilities, and (iii) to make participants able to help students with learning disabilities by applying various management method. Total 32 teachers from different departments participated in the workshop. They took part in various activities like experience sharing, identifying disabilities and group work. This workshop was organized in accordance with the instruction of Honorable Chairman of BoT of DIU Mr. Md. Sabur Khan. He has given the responsibility of organizing such workshops to the Department of English and DSA with the noble intention of helping students having any kind of learning disability. At the beginning of the workshop, Mr. Md. RakibulHasan Khan, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of English, briefed the participants its background and relevance. Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Head of GED and Director of Students’ Affairs, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of such workshops. He informed the audience that such workshops will be organized in every semester. The workshop went on very successfully and it came to an end with a light refreshment.
