Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister of ICT Division of Ministry of Post Telecommunications and Information Technology unveiling the survey report on ICT Job Market in Bangladesh 2018’ held today at Daffodil International University.

 

Daffodil International University has published ‘Survey on ICT Job Market in Bangladesh 2018’ in a publication ceremony, today, the 6 March, 2019 at 71 Milanayatan of the university.  Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Honorable State Minister, ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology was present in the publication ceremony as the ‘Chief Guest’ and unveil the survey report. Mrs. Hosne Ara Begum ndc, Managing Director (Secretary), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority was present in the program as the ‘Special Guest’ while Ms. Susan Amat, Ph.D, Executive Director, Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Accelerates and CEO and Founder, Venture Hive was present  as ‘Guest of Honor’. The program was chaired by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University. Professor Dr, Touhid Bhuiyan, Head, Department of Software Engineering made a power point presentation on the glimpse of the survey report. The program was addressed by Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Syed Akther Hossain, Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering,  Mr. Abu Taher Khan, Director of Career Development Center, (CDC. Beside this Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer of DIU were also present at the program. The whole program was conducted by Mr. KM Hasan Ripon, Advisor of Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSSDI).

While addressing as the chief guest Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that it’s a time-befitting research initiative. We made a remarkable development in ICT sector in the last ten years, but we couldn’t conduct any survey about ICT job market. So that, this survey initiative is obviously appreciative.
Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak also said that government has been taken plan to recruit more than 2 million people in ICT sector within 2021. Beside this government has many plan like establishing 28 High tech Park around the country, creating women entrepreneurs in ICT industry, making linkage between industry and academia etc. This survey will help to fulfill all of those plans. He added.


Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that government has already taken an initiative to establish a Virtual University of Multimedia and Innovation and government expecting help from Daffodil University in this regard.


Dr. Md. Sabur Khan also said that this survey will help the university to redesign the course curriculum as well as it will help the government also. He also said that Daffodil University is actively trying to build a skilled human resources according to the job market and global perspective. That’s why the university frequently alters its course curriculum with the required demand of job market and international standard. Daffodil university will include Robotic Education for engineering students within a very short time. He added.

With this holistic initiative, DIU attempts to focus current ICT job market outlook of Bangladesh, addressing various domains like Demographic of ICT employees, Recruitment, Training, & Academic Collaboration, Demand–Supply Gap of Core and Soft  Skills and so on. Moreover the survey report has also taken into consideration about the fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0) and future workforce, which are one of the vital issues in the digital economy.
To portray and analyses the real scenario of ICT Job Market in Bangladesh, DIU surveyed 384 organizations of diverse organizations, including ICT based ITES, Software and Web organizations, Service providers, non-ICT, public companies and uses updated data of 2018, which ensures exact representation and validity of the report.


The report will be a useful document for the employers, employees, policy makers, entrepreneurs and also other stakeholders, to obtain comprehensive analysis, based on updated information of ICT Job Market in Bangladesh.
