BAAS organized Unveiling Ceremony of the book entitled

“Speeches of the BAAS Presidents (1975—2011)”

Bangladesh Association of Advancement of Science (BAAS) published a book entitled “Speeches of the BAAS Presidents (1975-2011)” a compilation of a monograph consisting of the speeches delivered at different times by the Presidents of the Bangladesh Association of Advancement of Science (BAAS).

The unveiling ceremony of the book entitled “Speeches of the BAAS Presidents (1975-2011)” was held on May 06, 2012 at the Auditorium of Daffodil International University.

Architect Yeafesh Osman, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the ceremony as the chief guest.

Presided over by Professor Dr. S. M. Imamul Haque, President BAAS, the welcome address was delivered by Emeritus Professor   Dr. Aminul Islam, Former President, BAAS & Founder Vice Chancellor Daffodil International University. The function was also addressed by Professor M. Mahbubul Haque, Founder General Secretary (1075-1977), Dr. Kazi M. Bodruzzaman, National Emeritus Scientist & Former President, BAAS (1977-1979), Professor A.K. M. Aminul Haque, Former President, BAAS, Professor Dr. Naiyyum Chowdhury, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahaman, Vice Chancellor Daffodil International University, Professor Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, President, Bangladesh Academy for Science & Former President, BAAS, Mr. Harun- Ur- Rashid, General Secretary (BAAS).

Addressing as the chief guest Architect Yeafesh Osman said, without the contribution of the scientist, it is not possible to implement vision 2021 and build up “Digital Bangladesh”. Digital Bangladesh will be implemented only when we could ensure all sorts of digital facilities to the doorstep of every people. Only technology can change the life style of people and can bring welfare to the society, Present government is doing that work very sincerely and people are getting highest level facilities and enjoying the best use of technology, he added.

He urged the scientists to work hard for innovative ideas and keep up them updated with the latest development of modern technologies. He also urged the scientists to work united under one umbrella to prove their strength and utilize it for the development of the nation. He assured the scientists that the National Science Building with all sorts of modern facilities and equipped with lab facilities will be established at Agargaon very soon and the scientists will get opportunity to conduct their research work.

A large number of country’s renowned scientists, general and executive committee members of BAAS were present on the occasion.
