Prof. Dr. Harun-Ar-Rashid, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health delivering lecture on “Planning Research for Thesis” on 26 October 2018, Friday in 52 Milonayoton ofof the university

Department of Public Health OF Daffodil International University has organized a Grand Lecture on ‘Planning Research for Thesis” for the Thesis Part Master of Public Health (MPH) students on 26 October 2018 in 52 Milonayoton of the university. The Department organizes such lecture to facilitate Thesis writing by the MPH students. It is important to mention that completion of Thesis is one of the important requirements for the MPH degree. A considerable number of students from previous semesters although completed theoretical courses but could not defend Thesis and as a result awaiting the MPH degree. Considering this circumstance, the Department of Public Health initiated a new program titled ‘STEP’ (Special Thesis Enhancement Program). The main objective of this program is to accelerate completion of MPH Program.
Prof. Dr. Harun-Ar-Rashid, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health delivered lecture on “Planning Research for Thesis”. The program was mainly targeted for the students of 19th Batch. Under the ‘STEP’ relevant students of other Batches were also invited to participate in the program. More than 60 students of 14th, 15th, 17th and 19th Batches attended the lecture.Prof. Rashiddiscussed on following issues: selection of topic, writing research proposal, submission of research proposal, research proposal defense, registration of topic for Thesis,implementation of research study, data collection & analysis, writing Thesis, Thesis defense, plan of action of activities under Thesis, submission of Thesis, Thesis Guide, plagiarism screening and writing scientific article using Thesis materials.
Prof. Rashid has given attention to ethical issues in health research involving human participationand advised the students to apply for approval by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences of the University. Proforma for research proposal development, Application Form for ethical approval and checklist for Research Ethics Committee (REC))were distributed among the MPH students.  Prof. Rashid presented a Plan of Action of activities under Thesis for successful and timely completion of MPH degree. Finally he announced a significant strategy of the Department to facilitate completion of MPH program within a stipulated time frame. Professor Rashid concluded with an expectation that all the students of 19th Batch will complete their MPH degree in due time.
