Mr. Shariar Manjoor, Co-Chair and judging Director of ACM ICPC along with other distinguished participants at the 1st Meeting of ACM-ICPC 2018 Asia Regional Dhaka Site held at Daffodil International University.
The 1st meeting of the ACM-ICPC 2018 (Association of Computing Machinery- International Collegiate Programming Contest 2018) Asia Regional Dhaka Site called by Regional Contest Director Professor Syed Akhter Hossain was held today on September 8, 2018 at Conference Room of Daffodil International University (DIU) presided over by Prof. Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU). The meeting declares that ACM- ICPC Dhaka Regional Site 2018 will be hosted with prestige and pride of Daffodil International University at green Permanent Campus of the university on November 10, 2018.
At the beginning of the meeting the Regional Contest Director Prof. Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain, Head of CSE Department, DIU delivered the concept on hosting the ACM-ICPC Dhaka Regional 2018 through presentation and pointed out the planning for smooth implementation of the ACM-ICPC 2018 Asia Regional Dhaka Site. The meeting expressed their great concern to make the event remarkable in the history of Bangladesh and bring out put in World Finals through this contest.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Abul L. Haque, Chief Coordinator, ACM-ICPC Contest Council of Bangladesh and Former Director, ACM-ICPC Dhaka Site. Mr. Shariar Manjoor, Co-Chair and judging Director of ACM ICPC, Prof. Dr. S M Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Engr. A K M Fazalul Haque, Registrar, Professor Golam Mawla Chowdhury, Proctor of Daffodil International University, Engg Enamul Kabir from Bangladesh Computer Council, Prof Dr. Towhid Bhuiyan from Software Engineering Department, Prof. Md. Mostafa Akbar from BUET, Professor M A Mottalib from BRAC University, Prof Dr. Utpal Kanti Das from IUBAT, Prof Dr. Ameer Ali from BUBT, Dr Sazzad Hossain from North South University, Mr. Hasnain Heikel Jami from University of Dhaka, Saifur Rahman from BUBT and other high officials of Daffodil International University and SSL Wireless.
ACM ICPC is a two-tier contest in the first of which teams from different universities participate in regional contests and the winners of these contest qualify for the World Finals which held at different countries.
Daffodil International University continuously fosters for quality education and engages students in all co-curricular activities. DIU is regularly organizing National Computer Programming Contest since the very inception of the university and the teams from DIU ranked well in many national and ACM Dhaka regional events. Daffodil International University hosted ACM-ICPC 2012 (Association of Computing Machinery- International Collegiate Programming Contest 2018) Asia Regional Dhaka Site at Radison Blue in 2012. Being one of the fast moving digital universities, DIU is taking different drives for quality teaching, research and quality contestant and programmer developments.
