Daffodil International University (DIU) in association with Social Business Students Forum (SBSF) organized ‘Youth Summit on Ageing-2018’ at 71 Milonayoton of the University today on 28 June 2018. Mr. Kazi Riazul Haq, Chairman of National Human Rights Commission was present at the program as Chief Guest. Presided over by Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, Chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) a panel discussion was also addressed by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, Major General Jiban Kanai Das (Retd), CEO of Channel 24 and Country Director, Sir William Beveridge Foundation, Mr. Abul Hasib Khan, Member Secretary of Jatiyo Prabin Mancha, Ms. Masuma Khatun Lipi, Director of Boyoshko Punarbashan Kendra and Professor Dr. md. Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics of Daffodil International University. Md. Rifat, a student of Business Administration Department was present a mobile app concept based on senior citizen on the program.
Addressing as chief guest Mr. Kazi Riazul Haq, Chairman of National Human Rights Commission said that lots of development we have already done in our country and day by day we are developing in various sectors, but without association of senior citizen these developments couldn’t be sustained for a long time as senior citizen are the part of our society. In 2013 Bangladesh government passed an Act about senior citizenship, but use of this law is very few, he added.
Mr. Kazi Riazul Haq also said that ‘Youth Summit on Ageing’ is a new concept in our country. This concept will spread all over the country. Then young people will become more conscious on aged people.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said that people now a days are so much busy with the blessings of technological development. We have found lots of social media nowadays. But at the same time we also found the lack of inter relationship communication among people.He hoped that for overcome this gap, Youth Summit on Ageing will make a bridging point between young and old people. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan remind that keeping respect to senior citizen is a religious order for all people of all religion. He urged the young people to be responsible to their old family people.

Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said to his presidential speech that average age of Bangladeshi people is increasing. Today’s news paper publishes news that now Bangladeshi people’s average age is 72. In Bangladesh 7% people of total population is senior citizen. We have to think about this huge number of people. Because man can helpless on their old age. They become helpless due to their financial crisis, sickness, loneliness etc. So it is duty for young people to forward their hand on the old age people.
