Prof. Dr.Harun-Ar-Rashid , Head of the Department of Public Health making concluding remarks in the “Journal Day” organized by the Department.

 

 

Department of Public Health organized “Journal Day” on 04 June 2018 for the students of Master of Public Health (MPH) Program and faculties of the Department with an objective to give an opportunity to the students as well as faculty members to present research article. A total of 32 MPH students of Evening Program  of 18 and 19 Batch  and all faculty members of the Department participated in the program. Prof. Dr. Harun-Ar- Rashid, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health inaugurated the program. He explained the importance of “Journal Day” and mentioned that “Journal Day” will be observed every month of a Semester except the first month. He pointed out that the articles from SCOPUS Indexed Journals will be preferred for presentation in the “Journal Day.” A research paper was presented by a Somalian student Asad Aden Abdi on “Nipah Virus Contamination of Hospital Surfaces During Outbreaks (2013 -2014) in Bangladesh”. Under this article various aspects of Nipah virus transmission and its effect on human body were highlighted. As it is a fatal disease the preventive practices and awareness needed to combat this disease were discussed in detail. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session where students asked questions regarding the topic which were diligently answered by the presenter. At the end Prof. Dr. Harun-Ar-Rashid, thanked everyone for attending the “Journal Day” and added that in future a critical appraisal session will also be included in the “Journal Day”. The program was coordinated by Dr. Nadira Mehriban Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health.
