A class conducted by students at Students Teaching Students (STS) Practicum Session

A day-long Students Teaching Students (STS) Practicum Session for the fourth time was conducted on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at UC. 43 students of third year taught 34 first-year students on language teaching areas including listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. Through their innovative teaching learning materials they taught, assessed and gave in-class feedback to these students who in turn has submitted their individual evaluation toward 12 teams through a 'Student Observer's Observation Report'. The report contains 18 close-ended questions and an explanatory write-up stating their experience.

This is a continued practice with students of Eng-314 named Introduction to ELT course since 2016. The feedback from international audience of STS is quite positive and appreciative as received during course teacher: Rabeya Binte Habib's research presentations on STS at International Conference on Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Education in Christ Church University, UK from September 12-13, 2017 and at International Conference held in Institute of Modern Languages (IML), Dhaka University on November 24-25.

This time, the newly enrolled students announced team 3 who taught Live Listening as the winner of STS-4 (Image: 5237). A team with two Turkish students: Orhan Alibas and Burak Gul were the runner-up being elected by the same group of observers and also student teachers (Image: 5242). They taught writing skill through engaging activities like scrambled sentences, remembering difficult words using their tailor-made games.
