5 day-long celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2017 ended marking with huge response of fresh entrepreneurs today on November 19, 2017 through distributing Awards among the winners of Business Proposal competition. Like other 170 countries of the world, Department of Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University (DIU) celebrated this Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2017 in Bangladesh through 5 day-long program from 15-19 November 2017.
Mr. Amir Hossain Amu, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Industries, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the week and distributed prizes among the Awardees. Presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, the function was also addressed by Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, Mr. Munir Hassan, General Secretary, Bangladesh Open Source Network, Mr. Sohael Chowdhury, Country Host, Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), Mr. Abu Taher Khan, Director, Career Development Center (CDC) and Mr. Mohammad Shibli Shahriar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Entrepreneurship.
12 winners were awarded in different categories in the Business Proposal Competition in the Closing and Award giving Ceremony.

Addressing as the chief guest Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu, MP, said that the government of Bangladesh has been working relentlessly for creating more and more new entrepreneurs. This year six thousand entrepreneurs have been created only from BITAC. Beside this, BSCIC and SME foundation have also been creating thousands of entrepreneurs to ensure employment for every family declared by the present government. Mr. Amir Hossain Amu also said that, to become a middle economic country within 2021, we have to give more emphasize on industrialization. For that BSCIC has already indentified 177 cluster based industrial area in all around the country. 90 crore taka as loan has been disbursed among the entrepreneurs this year without any security, he added.
Mr. Amir Hossain Amu said, by arranging World Entrepreneurship Week, Daffodil International University has taken a great initiative and he urged other universities to come forward to strengthen the university–industry linkage.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of trustees, DIU said, the ministry of Industry, BSCIC, BITAC, SME foundation and other organizations of the government have doing manifold activities for creating entrepreneurs. But, their activities should be more modern and IT friendly. He claimed, there is no updated information in BSCIC website. If ministry wishes, Daffodil International University would update BSCIC website by voluntary basis. The university will also make a hand book of cluster based industrial area of BSCIC, he added.
