Daffodil International University (DIU) has taken an initiative to observe Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2017 in Bangladesh through 2 day-long program on 15-16 November, 2017.Honorable Planning Minister Mr. Abu Hena Mohammed Mustafa Kamal will inaugurate the two day long program as the Chief Guest. To uphold the details of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2017 towards the journalists a “Meet the Press” was hold today on October 30, 2017 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University. The meet the Press also informed that 2 day long program includes: Discussion Program on Entrepreneurship Development in Bangladesh, Business Proposal Competition among talent and potential educated youths of the country Entrepreneurs meet with the participation of entrepreneurs from all over the country including Chambers, Associations and other trade bodies and Start Up Fair participated by Students and Alumni of Daffodil International University’
Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Acting Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University briefed about the details to the journalists at the “Meet the Press”. The Meet the Press was also addressed by Mr. Sohael Chowdhury, Country Director, Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Director of Students' Affairs, Mr. Abu Taher Khan, Director (CDC), Mohammad Shibli Shahriar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Entrepreneurship and Promi Nahid , representative of Chakri Khujbona, Chakri Debo Group..
Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder said, it is a traditional thinking among us to set ourselves or to become a job holder from the colonial period. We have to break this tradition. It’s not possible for a country to achieve development through only service holders; rather we need a lot of entrepreneurs. Daffodil International University has taken this gigantic initiative of creating entrepreneurs and in this regard the university has introduced Department of Entrepreneurship for the first time in Bangladesh. To observe Global Entrepreneurship Week is one of the initiatives of these endeavours.
Mr. Sohael Chowdhury, Country Director of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) said that Global Entrepreneurship Week 2017 will be celebrated in 170 countries around the world. In Bangladesh this week will be observe at Daffodil International University as the university has been working lot from the very beginning to create entrepreneurs among their students, he added. He also said, it requires collective efforts of old entrepreneurs, political leaders as well as government cooperation to create news entrepreneurs.
