Masab Hasnain, a student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department receives the best table-3 player medal in the Walton Second Division Chess League 2017 from the chief guest Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn
Daffodil International University (DIU) won the best table-3 player medal in the Walton Second Division Chess League organized by Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) held on 22-28 October 2017. Masab Hasnain, a student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, earned this distinction, collecting highest 7 points in table-3 at the individual level, winning all the matches he played. He was awarded the medal in the closing ceremony at the BCF office on 28 October 2017.
As a team, DIU occupied 9th position among 33 teams from around the country, ahead of BUET (position 19) and Jahangirnagar University (position 24). DIU team collected total 8 points in seven matches held in Swiss League system, with three wins, two draws and two losses.
DIU sent a 6-member chess team, led by Dr. Binoy Barman, Director, Daffodil Institute of Languages (DIL) and Associate Professor, Department of English, Daffodil International University. Other team members are: Pritom Saha (JMC/captain), Mohammed Ishtiaq Ali LLB), Masab Hasnain (CSE), Md. Moinul Hasan Sadik (JMC) and Liton Sarker (CSE).
