External Peer Review of Department of Textile Engineering (TE), Daffodil International University has been taken place during 25-27 September, 2017.External review is one of the globally accepted vital component of quality assurance in higher education. A panel of expert or internationally credible QA agency (for institutional self-assessment) takes part in the process of reviewing the self-assessment of any program or institution in external peer review team (EPRT).
Department of Textile Engineering (TE) of Daffodil International University arranged External Peer Review Program of its Self-Assessment Report and activities under IQAC, DIU during a three-day visit (25-27 September, 2017).Generally, external peer review team (EPRT) comprises three members: one as subject matter expertise; one as QA expertise and another one as QA expertise from abroad. The three member External peer review team (EPRT) has conducted the peer reviewing with peer observation of the key aspects of the self-assessment exercise, conducted by the Department of Textile Engineering (TE), DIU.International Quality Assurance (QA) expert, Professor Ir. Dr. R. Badlishah Ahmad (SSP),Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation),Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) led the EPR team where Professor Dr. S M Kabir, Department of Marketing, University of Rajshahi acted as QA expert and Prof. Dr. Shah AlimuzzamanBelal, Dean, Faculty of Textile Engineering Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX)acted as subject matter expert.
It was a three-day visit under a well-structured schedule. The peer review panel members have visited the university and facilities as stated in the Self-Assessment (SA) report.The External Peer Review Team met in a discussion meeting with major stakeholders like the Vice Chancellor; Registrar; Controller of Exams; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Director, IQAC, DIU;International department; Librarian; faculty members of Textile Engineering (TE) and non-academic employees, some of the existing students, alumni, employers, during the three-day EPR visit. They have also paid their visit in physical facilities of the entity. EPR team hascompleted the assignment on time with a high professional standard, drawing upon the hand book and the guidance provided in the review.
Regarding maintaining overall documentation and protocols of the department, EPR team expressed their satisfaction. The EPR Team has made observations and comments in relation to the QA areas, self-assessment criteria and set standard specifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) so that the department can work for further improvement.At the end of the peer review visit the external reviewers presented their critical observations in an exit meeting, attended by the concerned SAC, faculty members of the entity, and IQAC personnel. As part of the modus operandi, the EPR teamhas also submitted a summary ‘Exit Report’ to the Director, IQAC, DIU.
