Rohingya Talkshow

Speakers at the this dialogue on ‘Rohingya Crisis: Challenges and Way Forward’ held today at Daffodil International University organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.

 

Speakers urged all to stand by the Rohingya and to be sympathetic to them. They also urged to come forward all national and international organizations to ensure their safe repatriation and right to their citizenship as millions of Rohingya people took shelter in Bangladesh after they had faced persecution in the Rakhaine State of Mayanmar. They said these while addressing at a dialogue held today on September 28, 2017 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University.
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Daffodil International University has organized this dialogue on ‘Rohingya Crisis: Challenges and Way Forward’.
Country’s renowned Writer and Columnist Syed Abul Maksud presided over the program and Brigadier M Sakhawat Hossain (Rtg.), Former Election Commissioner, Professor Salimullah Khan, Ambassador M Jamir, Ambassador Munshi Faiz Ahmed, Chairman, BIISS, Profrssor M. Shaheduzzaman, Department of IR, University of Dhaka, Poet & Journalist Sohrab Hasan of Prothom Alo, Mr. Asif Munir, Formar Country Head, IOM, Mr. Saiful Haq Omi, Photographer and Human Activist, Mr. Monzurul Islam, Chief Editor, DBC News took part in the dialogue session. Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Affairs of Daffodil International University delivered the welcome address. Media Personalities Prof. Robaet Ferdous moderated the program. Professor Dr. A M M Hamidur Rahman, Daen, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, DIU, Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Controller of Examinations, DIU and Many other Faculty members and students were also present at the program.
Mr. Syed Abul Maksud said to his presidential speech that Rohingya crisis is one of the most vulnerable crises of 8/10 crisis among the history of last two thousand years of the world. Bangladesh has given them shelter for the consideration of humanity. Now we have to solve this problem by diplomatically or political way or anyhow.
Mr. Syed Abul Maksud said that top intellectual personalities are giving speech in today’s program. It’s a great opportunity for the students to listen from them face to face. We didn’t have this kind of opportunity while we were student. In the mean time he said, its duty for a University to arrange various kind of expert knowledge and provide to the students. He gave thank to Daffodil International University for taking this initiative.
Professor Salimullah Khan said, there are two type of crisis for Rohingya issue. One is, they are coming like flood water and another is, they have no right to live in their own native land of Myanmar. So that it’s not enough to push back them, but also we have to ensure that they will reside there with complete citizenship and rights. For doing this, Bangladesh will have to create international pressure on Myanmar about Rohingya issue.
Brigadier M Sakhawat Hossain (Rtg.) said, our big challenge is, we have not enough knowledge on Myanmar. Our connectivity with Myanmar is so narrow. For solving this Rohingya crisis, firstly we have to gather knowledge on Myanmar. We have to take initiative keeping Myanmar’s strength in consideration.
Former ambassador M Jamir said to the young students that, you have to move from facebook and look forward to other medium of internet to know about Myanmar and Rohingya issue.
