A panel of expert or internationally credible QA agency at the Peer Review of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of DIU
External Peer Review of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Daffodil International University has been taken place during 12-14 September, 2017.External review is one of the globally accepted vital component of quality assurance in higher education. A panel of expert or internationally credible QA agency (for institutional self-assessment) takes part in the process of reviewing the self-assessment of any program or institution in external peer review team (EPRT).
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Daffodil International University arranged External Peer Review Program of its Self-Assessment Report and activities under IQAC, DIU during a three-day visit (12-14 September, 2017).External peer review team (EPRT) comprises three members: one as subject matter expertise; one as QA expertise and another one as QA expertise from abroad. The three member External peer review team (EPRT) has conducted the peer reviewing with peer observation of the key aspects of the self-assessment exercise, conducted by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), DIU.International Quality Assurance (QA) expert, Professor Sr. Ir. Dr. Suhaimi AbdulTalib,Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International), UniversitiTeknologi MARAled the EPR team where Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Asia Pacific acted as QA expert and Professor Dr. S. Shahnawaz Ahmed, Department of EEE, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET)acted as subject matter expert.
It was a three-day visit under a well-structured schedule. The peer review panel members have visited the university and facilities as stated in the Self-Assessment (SA) report.The External Peer Review Team met in a discussion meeting with major stakeholders like the Vice Chancellor; Registrar; Controller of Exams; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Director, IQAC, DIU;International department; Librarian; faculty members of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and non-academic employees, some of the existing students, alumni, employers, Public Relations wing of DIU, during the three-day EPR visit. They have alsopaid their visit in physical facilities of the entity. EPR team hascompleted the assignment on time with a high professional standard, drawing upon the hand book and the guidance provided in the review.
Regardingoverall documentation process and maintained protocols of the department, EPR team expressed their satisfaction. The EPR Team has made observations and comments in relation to the QA areas, self-assessment criteria and set standard specifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) so that the department can work for further improvement.At the end of the peer review visit the external reviewers presented their critical observations in an exit meeting, attended by the concerned SAC, faculty members of the entity, and IQAC personnel. As part of the modus operandi, the EPR teamhas also submitted a summary ‘Exit Report’ to the Director, IQAC, DIU.
During their visit, SA Committee of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), comprising Mr. Md. Dara AbdusSatter, Head; Dr. Md. Rezwanul Ahsan, Member and Ms. TasmiaBaten, Member of the Self Assessment (SA) Committee came up withoutstanding assistance to the external peer reviewers for smooth operation of the process. EPR Team also acclaimed the administrative and logistic support, provided by the concerned department.
The EPR team shall submit the Final Peer Review Report on or before 5 October, 2017 to the Head, SAC, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) with a copy to Director, IQAC, DIU.
