Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University received the award for the University from WITSA President Ms. YVONNE CHIU in a Grand Awarding Ceremony and Gala dinner in the presence of Prime Minister of Taiwan H.E William Lai.
Daffodil International University (DIU) has been honored for the 2nd time in WITSA Global ICT Excellence Award 2017 (Merit Winners) for sustainable growth. World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), the largest international ICT organization has conferred the award in World Congress on Information Technology 2017 (WCIT 2017) at the WCIT 2017’s Gala Dinner on September 12, 2017 at Taipei in Taiwan. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University received the award for the University from WITSA President Ms. YVONNE CHIU in a Grand Awarding Ceremony and Gala dinner in the presence of Prime Minister of Taiwan H.E William Lai. Economic Minister-Mr. Shen Jong-chin, ICT Minister Mr. Wu Tsung-tsong and other dignitaries from around the world were present at the award giving ceremony. Earlier in 2014 Daffodil International University won this award at WCIT 2014 at Guadalajara in Mexico. DIU is the only university in Bangladesh to win the award which is said as the Nobel award for ICT sector worldwide for which has been recognized globally for its excellent features
Organization/Candidates for these Awards are nominated by ICT experts from around the world who span nearly 80 countries/economies. The members autonomously nominated DIU as the most qualified candidates considering the criteria such as, demonstration of the effectiveness of the use of ICT; approximate number of people benefiting from the application of ICT, degree of effectiveness of ICT; and, level of innovation used in implementing ICT application, etc. The award was given to DIU for setting an example as the Digitized University in Bangladesh, for contributing to the ICT Sector by Inspiring community to the use of ICT; Developing Human Resources in the ICT Sector; for the inclusion of rural students; for organizing events and contests to encourage IT talents; Online Teaching Evaluation Systems, Blended Education Systems, and more.
