 A partial view of Take-off Programming Contest for the Spring 2017 semester

Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Daffodil International University in collaboration with DIU CPC (Computer and Programming Club) jointly organized the Intra-University Individual Programming Contest and the Take-off Programming Contest for the Spring 2017 semester on Friday, 31 March 2017. Students from the 1st and the 2nd semester participated in the Take-off Programming Contest while the others competed in the Intra-University competition in two back to back sessions running throughout the day.

A  sequence of Intra-University Individual Programming Contest

 

The Intra-University Programming Competition took place in the morning session with participation of 155 students from the Computer Science and Engineering as well as the Software Engineering department. The event started at 10:20 in the morning and ran for 2.5 hours in 5 labs of the CSE building using the CodeMarshal Online Judge platform. The participants were given 8 problems to solve. Ahsan Shuvo of 9th semester from the SWE department finished in the first place by solving 7 problems while Jayanto Mondel (CSE 12th semester) and Muhaiminul Islam Jim (CSE 3rd semester) got the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively by solving 6 problems each.

 

The afternoon session saw a bigger event when a whopping 358 1st and 2nd semester students from all the 3 campuses locked horns in the Spring 2017 edition of the DIU Take-off programming contest. This was the 4th edition of the event that had first taken place during the Spring 2016 semester in order to introduce the new students taking their first programming courses with the culture of active problems solving as well as filtering out the students with most potentials for specialized training programs in order to create high quality software professionals and have already created a lot of enthusiasm as one of the flagship events organized by the CSE department each semester. This was a 2 hours long event starting 4 in the afternoon simultaneously at the Main campus as well as the Permanent campus. Nesar Ahammed took the title by solving 5 problems out of the 8. Md. Nasimuzzaman finished 2nd and Nowroz Islam came out 3rd solving the same number of problems.
