Daffodil International University hosted the Seminar on “Recommendations for IT Education from WCIT 2016” with major Stakeholders from the ICT Industry, Governments, Multinational Institutions, Corporations and Organizations, Academic Institutions, Media and Civil Society Members held today on February 3, 2017 at Media Bazar, Bangabandhu International Convention Center (BICC). Professor Abdul Mannan, Honorable Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest while Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Honorable Chairman, Global Trade Committee, WITSA and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and Daffodil Family was present as the keynote speaker in the seminar.

Addressing as the chief guest UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan said, We are trying to develop curriculum and we have to have systematic Change in our course curriculum to keep peace with the global change and for that a 10 years Action Plan has been taken from 2016-2026. He said, I want to initiate the changes, so that next man can continue it. We are not thinking about only to change the course curriculum of IT related subjects but also to change all the relevant subjects based on the suggestions and recommendations based on industry –academia linkage. Universities will have to play the key role in this regard, From Now and onward to get approval of any course, he urged the universities to ensure induction of the required changes of the course curriculum.
Terming Bangladesh as a rising Role Model of Economic Development, he said, we will have to keep up the speed of this change and development and young generation of the country can play the vital role as they are 48% of the total population who are under 24 years.
While delivering presentation as keynote speaker Md. Sabur Khan Said, Academic, public and private sectors need to join as partners in the exploration, planning, and implementation of Smart City Technology, Infrastructure and Services for implementing vision 2021 as well as Digital Bangladesh.

WCIT 2016 recommendations are focused on Digital Nation, Digital Agenda and living with digital services and IT education is the most crucial player to utilize the digital agenda to its fullest, he added.
The World Congress on IT (WCIT 2016), an outcome of the World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA) inspires and promotes Digital Age promise. Its recommendations are in line with the vision of Digital Bangladesh through exposing IT expertise in Bangladesh.
Continuous adoption of recommendations with scale up approach is the key to success, he added.
