Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam
Emeritus Professor and Founder Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Dr. Aminul Islam, elected as the President of Science Council of Asia (SCA) for 2016- 2018 in the 16th Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference held in Philippine recently. SCA is an 18 member countries/region and 31 member organizations with the aim of promoting cooperation in scientific research among the Asian countries. Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) is a member of SCA and Professor Aminul Islam, as a President of BAS representing Bangladesh and nominated for this position. Professor Dr. Aminul Islam was also the Vice Chancellor of National University, Bangladesh from 1996-2000.
Professor Aminul Islam started his career in the Department of Soil Science of University of Dhaka as Junior Lecturer in 1956 and became Professor in 1973. Professor Aminul Islam was awarded Independence Day Award in 1991 for his outstanding contribution in the Liberation War.
As the new President of SCA, Professor Aminul Islam is confident that SCA will be making continuous progress and keep foot print in global sustainable development, promoting scientific cooperation among the member
