A week long training workshop on “Electronic Journalism” for the students of one year post graduate diploma on Journalism of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) as a part of their course inaugurated at Daffodil International University (DIU) on January 11, 2014 at JMC Media Lab.
Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present at the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. Presided over by Md. Shah Alamgir, Director General, PIB, Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science and Prof. Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Hoque Registrar of Daffodil International University were present as the special guests. Sheikh Md. Abdur Razzak, Instructor, JMC Media Lab of Daffodil International University and Shahela Akter, Coordinator, PIB were also present at the inaugural ceremony. A total of 50 students attended the workshop.
Addressing as the chief guest Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman said, In this modern age of free information flow, Daffodil International University ensured all sorts of infrastructural equipment and technological support in the department to build skilled journalist for electronic media which will help the participants to be experienced. He also said, Daffodil International University is conducting this type of course for the last three yeas and DIU provides all logistic support for it. He hoped that this endeavor will be continued in coming days.
While addressing Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman said, Daffodil International University is now known as the best institution of Bangladesh for journalism education. For learning and experiencing on electronic journalism DIU has set up a well equipped Media Lab through which the participants of PIB will be able to prepare themselves fit for work in electronic media.
In the presidential address Md. Shah Alamgir, Director General, PIB appreciated for cooperating the last two courses and expressed his gratitude and urged to continue this support in coming days.
